ESRN REPORTJune 1, 2026

**Joseph Grandy Holds Off Late Charge at Lanier** This was a fight for every inch. Joseph Grandy worked the high line at Lanier National Speedway and never looked back, but Matthew Mateer made him earn every single lap in a feature that stayed tight and tense from drop of the green flag. Grandy took the early advantage and controlled the race with precision, leading the way through the middle stages while Mateer shadowed him, trading the top spot briefly and leading 20 laps himself. The pressure never let up — this wasn't a runaway. It was two drivers genuinely going after it on the dirt, with Grandy's consistency and line choice ultimately proving the difference down the stretch. Andy Patton's story was equally compelling. He grabbed the pole in qualifying but came through the consolation race to prove he belonged in the mix. By the feature's end, he'd charged six positions forward and ran down third place, proof that the consolation format sorts out the real contenders. Grandy's wire-to-wire execution on a slick surface where mistakes get punished immediately — that's the kind of drive that wins sprint car races. Matthew Mateer gave everything and came up just short.
